Health & Security

Your health and safety while on trip is of the utmost importance to us. Different countries may have differing standards and regulations that may not always meet the standards of what you are used to at home.

We recommend you to carry out some background research about the destinations you are going to and any risks involved. The information below is to help you address the most frequently asked questions.

Personal health

Travel vaccines
  • Please consult with your doctor or travel clinic about 6 weeks before your trip. They can get you most appropriate advice, given your personal medical history and updated destination requirements.
Common sickness
  • Heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke and dehydration can be an issue in the hot season. Stay vigilant about hydration and applying sunblock.
  • Diarrhea can be common especially when exposed to different food cultures. Maintain good personal hygiene and take precautions on food and water.
Malaria risk
  • The risk of contracting malaria is heightened in the rural highlands. Consider taking anti-malarial medication before traveling to remote region. A more common mosquito-borne disease is dengue fever, which has been more frequent throughout the region over the last few years. There is no vaccine for dengue fever, the best preventative measure is to avoid mosquito bites.
Food and water hygiene
  • Don’t drink tap water even in the hotels, always use bottled water. Avoid ice cubes at the streets.
  • Follow the advice of your local guides when eating street foods.
Sun exposure
  • While enjoying the tropical region you should be aware of the risk of sunburn. Recommend you to pack plenty of high-factor sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, long-sleeved tops, and sunglasses.
  • UV light is reflected from water, white sand, and snow. If you’re snorkeling or swimming for long periods, suggest you wear a T-shirt and shorts.

Personal safety and security

Southeast Asia is quite safe destination for travelers. People are generally non-confrontational, and polite towards visitors. But use common sense just like you travel in other popular tourist cities. Special attention to look out for bag snatching from motorists driving by.

Listen to your local guides for advice.
